Parent Engagement and Learning

The Preschool staff provides guidance and resources to parents in their efforts to better support their children and to encourage a life- long love of learning including programs such as:
-
Family Reading - Encouraging parents to read to their children at home (100 books per school year). The Preschool offers developmentally appropriate books to families for use in their home.
-
Volunteering - Parents are required to volunteer at the preschool each month by reading to the children, serving meals, and helping with outdoor activities.
-
Parent group meetings - Community facilitators and staff discuss nutrition and other healthy practices, brain research information, and developmentally appropriate practices in an interactive environment.
-
Individualized parent guidance - Teachers meet with families both at home and at the Preschool to offer complimentary enrichment materials for children who need additional assistance
-
Access to resources - When necessary, Preschool staff can offer referrals to community agencies to address children's developmental or behavioral needs and work with the parents and agencies to ensure appropriate followup.
