Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Preschool, helping to create a supportive environment for learning and exploration. Ways to give your time include:
Tutor: Volunteers are needed to come once a week for 30 minutes to help children practice their language and math skills using interesting activities, games and books provided by the teachers
Storytelling: Bring in your own book or read a special classroom favorite. Bilingual readers are also welcomed and encouraged
The ‘Lunch Bunch’: Join the school between 11:00-noon to help as children transition from morning activities and outside playtime to lunch and quiet time. Volunteers will be given general guidance by staff and teachers.
Be-A-Buddy: Spend one-on-one time with a child enjoying puzzles, books and make-believe. A teacher will partner volunteers with a child or two.
March Madness For Reading: Help the children reach their reading goals as you read your favorite children’s book in Circle time.
Handyman or Handywoman: Bring your skills and tools to assist the preschool with minor maintenance projects such as cleaning the lobby fan, cleaning windows, repairing a leaking shed, painting ramps, and other projects that arise. Major projects might include tree trimming or removal, building a new storage shed, and other needs that arise.
Vegetable Driver: Gas up your car, turn on some tunes, and pickup vegetables from Second Harvest 1-2 times a month and deliver them to Lakewood Preschool for our families.
Smiling Food Servers: Assist staff by serving children breakfast, lunch, or snacks with a smile.
