LAKEWOOD STAFF 2015-16

Our teachers and staff are one of the primary reasons Lakewood Preschool is unique and able to fulfill its mission. Since the inception of LWPSC, its Board has been committed to hiring and retaining highly qualified teachers and staff and accordingly LWPSC offers competitive salaries and benefits, including professional development and training opportunities. LWPSC requires its lead teachers to have (at a minimum) an associate’s degree and assistant teachers to have North Carolina Childcare credentials. However, to minimize turnover and provide additional benefits for students, LWPSC also provides educational assistance for staff so they can pursue a Bachelor’s degree while working at the preschool.

Ms Ivory pictureIvory Wallace
Co-Teacher - Red Robin
Three Year Old Classroom

Ivory Wallace and I am proud to call Lakewood Preschool Cooperative my new home.  I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC, graduating from West Charlotte Senior High School in 2004.  I have a Bachelors of Science Degree from the prestigious North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (2009), and an Elementary Education K-6 Graduate certification from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte (2014). I have a daughter Zyon Wallace, and a son Nuggett the family dog.

I was employed with the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system for the past 6 years where I worked under the special education department with middle grade students. My last year in CMS I had the opportunity to work with the younger aged children in Pre-K and kindergarten.  These children touched my heart and made me see that the reward was greater when you start from the beginning.  Early childhood education builds them a strong foundation to support all the knowledge that’s to come in the later years.  All children are flowers of a garden and we the teachers must give each flower specialized attention to see that they flourish.  Just as each flower needs individualized love, children do too.

Ms Annetrice WilliamsAnnetrice Williams
Co-Teacher Early Head Start Room

It has been a great honor that I have joined Lakewood Preschool.  Working with kids is something that I have always wanted to do.  I am looking forward to furthering my education in Early Childhood. I currently have my credentials, training classes, workshops, CPR First Aid, SITDS, BSAC and my pre-licensing.  Soon I want my own development center with kids.

I absolutely love what I do, it is my career path.

I have 3 beautiful children of my own and loving, caring, and watching them develop and grow is the most heart-warming feeling I could have ever felt.  So for me to get an opportunity to do the same with other children is an overwhelming feeling and I LOVE it.  Again, thank you for giving me the time and opportunity to learn and grow with your child. Fun and learning will never end.
